Therese Yseult Mathieu

On a bright and glorious day, Mr. Herman Sauther and Madame Aurore Michel Anilus gave birth to Therese Yseult Sauther. Therese completed Elementary and High School in Hinches, Haiti. She became a teacher within her village. During her young adulthood, she worked as a vice principal in College Auntino in Port au Prince. She was known to be very patient with all of her pupils. Til this day her students reach out to her and her family to express gratitude for her gift of teaching, understanding, and kindness towards them. Therese fell in love with Benjamin Mathieu soon after working there. He pursued her for over a year and he won her heart in 1976. They were married March 20, 1976. This year of 2025, the couple have been married for 48 years. After 11 years of marriage, Therese gave birth to their only daughter Mithsouka. After 24 years of struggling with health challenges, Therese departed us on March 19, 2025. 

She leaves behind her husband Benjamin, daughter Mithsouka and son-in-law Leonard Laroque. Therese is also survived by her sister Cecile Menard and family; brothers: Jean Sauther and family and Herman Sauther; cousins: Nicole, Kettline, Elsie, Ernst, Carole and their families; nephew: Jean Claude Jr. and family; nieces: Marjorie, Carline, and Bettina and their families. Therese is predeceased by her siblings: Monique Silvain and Carmine Pierre.

Relatives and friends are invited to Therese's funeral on Friday, March 28, at the Philadelphia Boulevard S.D.A. Church, 8441 Roosevelt Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA 19152. Her visitation begins at 9 AM followed by a Service at 9:45 AM. Interment will follow at Northwood Cemetery.
