Mary Louise Melso (nee: Uetz), age 83, of Saint Joseph Villa, Flourtown, Pennsylvania passed away on June 3, 2024 of natural causes. Mary Louise was born on January 19, 1941 to Marie V. O’Connor Uetz and William L. Uetz in Darby, Pennsylvania. Mary Louise graduated from Little Flower Catholic High School in 1958.
In 1958, Mary Louise met William Melso at work where she was a secretary; they married in 1961. Mary Louise is the mother of three children, Michael, Anthony and Marie Anne and widow of William Melso.
Mary Louise was a dedicated full time, Mom. She loved coaching her children in sports and she was an avid bowler who ranked as a top scoring bowler in her league. Known as a “card shark” her whole life, she played to win at pinocle until her passing at Saint Joseph Villa. She also led every sing along, knowing the words to every song played and completed even the most difficult cross word puzzles.
Our family’s experience at Saint Joseph Villa has surpassed our expectations and we are extremely grateful to all the staff, especially the nurses, activity staff and social workers who recognized Mary Louise as the unique person that she was. The gentle, compassionate caring of Mary Louise is a blessing that will not be forgotten.
Mary Louise was predeceased in death by her mother, Marie, father William and brother Robert. Mary Louise is survived by her brother Thomas Uetz and her sister Joanne Uetz, SSJ and her faithful grandsons Caleb, Aidan, and their father Edward Ligorria.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Holy Innocents Church, 1337 E. Hunting Park Avenue, Philadelphia (19124) at the intersection of L Street and E. Hunting Park Avenue. Her visitation begins at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM. Inurnment will be follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon.
